Questions, answered.
- What is Of One?
- Of One is an open method for hard decisions, published by Utlyze. It has three moves: ask the questions that shrink the unknown, map what you find, and make the best move you can back up. Its premise is that the same skeleton applies in any field, and it also runs as an AI skill.
- What are the eight bones?
- Eight plain questions every decision shares: who decides, what they want, what is true now, the hard limits, what they can change, what will shift the outcome, how they will know it worked, and when they must decide.
- Why twenty questions?
- In the game, twenty yes-or-no answers can single out one thing in about a million, if each answer cuts what is left in half. Of One uses the same idea on real decisions: weigh each question by how much it could change your decision against its cost, risk and delay, ask the best one, then ask again. It is never a fixed checklist.
- What goes on a decision map?
- Facts with where they came from and how fresh they are, claims with how sure you are, named unknowns, kill tests, the links between them, options marked reversible or not, the tradeoffs between options, triggers that would reopen the map, and human gates. The answer you read is drawn from the map.
- What is bedrock?
- Where asking why can stop: deep enough to decide, a cause you can check or change, a law, rule or definition, a value you choose, a limit of authority, plain chance, the limit of what can be seen, the edge of the question, or a risk you accept on purpose. Each stop says why it is deep enough and what would reopen it. It is never a claim to final truth.
- What is a kill test?
- The result that would prove a claim wrong. In Of One, every strong claim carries one, so the map shows how each claim could fail.
- What is a human gate?
- A move a named person must approve before it happens: anything legal, medical, financial, safety-related, touching rights, jobs, education, public policy or reputation, or hard to undo. An AI can prepare it. A person signs.
- Can an AI use Of One?
- Yes. The method is packaged as an AI skill: the AI builds the map first, checks it with the skill’s validator (the program where it can run, its written checks where it cannot), and only then writes the answer. The skill and its checks are open source on GitHub.
- Is Of One proven to work better?
- Not yet. Its public benchmark is unfinished: at the current freeze, 52 of 90 predeclared runs were completed and locally reviewed. Its own checks excluded its first full-method runs, and those exclusions are published. Of One does not claim a win it has not earned.
- What happened to Prism, Map and Forge?
- Same method, plainer names. Prism is now Ask, Forge is now Move, the Map is still the map, and the fog is the unknown.
- How much does help cost?
- Consult is $400 an hour, in 5-hour blocks. Build is from $15,000 a month for a dedicated team that works and builds with you and is on call 24/7.
- How is this related to Business of One?
- Business of One (businessofone.ai) and its sister sites are Utlyze sites built on the Of One method. Of One is the method; each of those sites brings it, with the same offers, to one audience.
- How do I start?
- Try the free tool at of1.ai/ask on one real decision. It runs in your browser and sends nothing unless you choose to. Or use the form at the end of the home page.
Ready when you are.
